With more than 12 million registered domains, .de (dot de) is the second biggest Top Level Domain (TLD) after .com (dot com) and the biggest country code TLD (ccTLD).
And with a population of 82 million people Germany is the biggest country in Europe and it is the third largest economy in the world.
Much stronger than in the U.K., German surfers will type in and use domains under their ccTLD .de more often than any other domain ending. .de is always the
first choice for users and companies, clearly before .com. Germans do not expect web sites with other TLDs to have content or offers aimed at them and
again, much stronger than in the U.K., Germans trust web sites and companies more having their domain name registered under the German TLD .de.
It is therefore vital for any company or individual trading or planning to trade in Germany or simply anyone offering information relevant to people in Germany to reserve
their domain name. This will also increase your chances to be found by a person typing in the company or trading name ending on .de or through search engines knowingly restricting
their search results to web sites ending on .de to filter relevant pages for German users.
